164.5 Kg of Qurban Animal Offal Unfit for Consumption Destroyed

The Maritime and Agricultural Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP), succeeded in destroying 164.5 kg of qurban animal innards that were unfit for consumption.

164.5 kg of innards contained liver flukes and pneumonia

Animal Husbandry and Health Section Head, Theresia Ellita stated animal innards that were not fit for consumption were found from the results of examinations of 6,636 qurban animals, consisting of 1,937 cows, eight buffaloes, 4,036 goats, and 655 sheep. The examination was done from Monday (6/17) to Wednesday (6/19).

"164.5 kg of innards contained liver flukes and pneumonia," she expressed, Thursday (6/20).

According to her, the innards were immediately destroyed on the spot by soaking them in chemical liquid, crushing them, and planting them in the ground. It was done to avoid misuse by irresponsible parties.

"All qurban animals examined were spread across 252 locations in 10 sub-districts," she continued.

Nevertheless, she added the qurban animals slaughtered in East Jakarta were in healthy condition and suitable for consumption.
